7. Enter the following command to import your old database data into
your new database:
WPSConfig.bat database-transfer-import
After some time, the length being dependent on the volume of data
imported, you should see a success message as indicated in
Figure 4-5.
8. Restart WebSphere Portal and verify the installation by accessing
your portal.
For DB2, you should perform a reorg check on all the database tables and if
you installed WebSphere Portal on a pre-existing instance of WebSphere Ap-
plication Server, make sure that the path to the required DB2 JDBC provider
¬les was added to the WebSphere Application Server. You can verify that
the classpath has been set up correctly by doing the following steps:
1. Go to administration console.
2. Click Servers Application Servers.
3. Then click WebSphere Portal from the list of application servers.
4. Click Process De¬nition from the list of additional properties.
5. Finally, click Java Virtual Machine from the list of additional
properties.

Summary
In this chapter you saw how to con¬gure WebSphere Portal after a basic
installation. We focused on enabling WebSphere Portal to store its objects in

DB2 8.1, Oracle 9i, or SQL Server 2000. Con¬guration of WebSphere Portal
for LDAP will be covered in Chapter 19. You saw that with WSCon¬g utility,
you could easily change your con¬guration without reinstalling the product
and the con¬guration utility also handled data migration.
In the next chapter we will discuss how to install some specialized tools
that come with WebSphere Portal and also introduce you to some tools and
features that help you analyze installation and runtime problems.

CHAPTER

5
Installing WebSphere Portal
Tools and Problem Analysis

WebSphere Portal comes with a couple of tools that are critical to the
development and usage of portals: Portal Toolkit 5.0.2 and IBM Lotus
Workplace Web Content Management version 1.1. In this chapter we will
show you how to install them, since the installation methods are not that
straightforward.
Lastly, we will discuss what you should do if you encounter a problem
and show the tools that are available for identifying your problems and
correcting them. This will include a discussion on Tivoli Web Site Analyzer
that comes with WebSphere Portal Enable. The Tivoli Web Site Analyzer
allows you to analyze your portal usage.
We will look at the 10 most common problems customers have encoun-
tered and propose some best practices.

Portal Toolkit 5.0.2
Portal Toolkit 5.0.2 is a plug-in for WebSphere Studio that enables you to
easily develop and debug portlets and then test them either using an inte-
grated local WebSphere Portal Test Environment or on a remote WebSphere
Portal server. The local WebSphere Test Environment can be WP V4.2, WP
5.0, or WP 5.0.2. The usage of the Portal Toolkit is discussed in Chapter 15.
Here we are going to discuss how to install Portal Toolkit 5.0.2 with a local
WebSphere Portal 5.0.2 Test environment.
First we are assuming that you have installed WebSphere Studio Appli-
cation Developer V5.1.0 or WebSphere Studio Site Developer V5.1.0. Do not

install WebSphere Studio 5.1.0. Interim Fix 001 if you need to use the Web
Service Client Portlet Project Wizard. Also when you install WebSphere
Studio, insure that the installation directory has a short path. The toolkit
installation tends to have problems with long path names.
The Portal Toolkit has the following system and software requirements:
1. Processor: 800 MHz Pentium III minimum.
2. Memory: 1 GB of memory minimum.
3. Disk space: 2.5GB +.
4. Operating system: Windows 2000 SP2+ or Windows XP SP1. Include
all security patches.
5. Browser: IE5.5 SP2 +.
6. Tools: Adobe Acrobat, Zip Utility.
7. WebSphere Studio Application Developer 5.1.0 or WebSphere Studio
Site Developer 5.1.0.
8. WebSphere Portal Toolkit V5.0.2 MP from WebSphere Portal Zone for
developers; http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/
websphere/zones/portal/.
9. Download WebSphere Application Server 5.0.2 Fix Pack and the
WebSphere Portal 5.0 Fix Pack 2, which can be found at http://www-
1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=0&q1=portal+5.0.2
&uid=swg24006309&loc=en_US&cs=utf-8&cc=us&lang=en.

Updating WebSphere Studio™s WAS
Runtime Environment
The ¬rst step is to update the WAS V5.0.2 runtime environment used by
WebSphere Studio to enable local debugging for WP V5.0.2. You do this by
taking the following steps:

1. Unzip WebSphere Application Server 5.0.2 Fix Pack into c:\fixes.
2. Open a command prompt, change directory to C:\fixes\win and
set JAVA_HOME=<WSAD>\runtimes\base_v5\java and hit
Enter.
3. Type updateWizard.bat. and hit Enter.
4. Using the drop-down box, select a language for the wizard to use.
5. Read the Welcome screen and click Next.
6. Verify that Specify Product Information is checked and then browse
to <WSAD>\runtimes\base_v5 and click Next.
7. Select Install Fixes and click Next.

The next step is to install the actual Portal Toolkit with the WebSphere Test
Environment V5.0. Perform the following steps to do this:
1. Shut down your HTTP servers.
2. Double-click PortalToolkit502MP.exe.
